Waiting on Wednesday-Inheritance

For my Waiting on Wednesday book today I am going to show my true nerdy colors.  First off though I need to thank Breaking the Spine for hosting this meme every week.  Now onto the book.  The book is Inheritance by Christopher Paolini.  If you love fantasy like me you have probably heard of this series before.  If you have not heard of this series but have seen the movie, Eragon, do not judge this series by that.  In my opinion the movie did not due the book any kind of justice.  The only awesome feature out of that was Saphira, the dragon.  She was amazing, other than that, they changed major plot points, had some seriously cheesy dialogue and just did not do a good job.  Sorry to any out there who liked it, but that movie was a let down to me.

Okay, I am getting off track, back to this book, Inheritance, which is the final book in the series, yay!  The cover was just reveled a couple of days ago, so this post is serving double duty, cover reveal and a book I am pining for.  Here is a summary of the book from Goodreads.com:

Not so very long ago, Eragon Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders.

Long months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must confront Galbatorix. When they do, they will have to be strong enough to defeat him. And if they cannot, no one can. There will be no second chances.

The Rider and his dragon have come further than anyone dared to hope. But can they topple the evil king and restore justice to Alagasia? And if so, at what cost?

I am so excited!  This is a series I have loved because of all the amazing fantasy elements and fantastic storyline.  What I have not loved is the wait, the last book in this series, Brisingr, came out in 2008.  That means it has been almost three years since we have had the latest installment and I am ready for the final battle.  I am just hoping the three year wait has been worth it, but I will have to wait until September to find out.  So how about you?  What books are you waiting for?

  1. It was nice to know that the cover is up.
I am also waiting for this book. But It also reminds me that I have not finished the third book. I have no idea I lost my passion for this book.

    Will you reread the book?

    It’s All About Books

    • I think I might listen the the third book again on audio book before it comes out for a refresher. I can’t listen to audio books when I have not read the book before because I get to impatient and have to buy the book to read it, lol. Plus, there are about 100 pages in there that I think could be taken out, so if I listen to it I think it might work out better 🙂

  2. Thank YOU for playing!!

  3. I am anxious for this one, too – I listened to books 2 and 3 on audio in the past couple of years, so I’m hoping everything is fresh in my mind for the last one. And I couldn’t agree more about the Eragon movie – one of the worst book-to-film adaptations ever!

    • I am glad someone else is with me about the movie. I was so excited to see it and so bummed out when I left the theatre. I think I am going to listen to book 3 on audio book before this one comes out to refresh my memory since it has been so long.

  4. Yes!!! This book has taken TOO long to come out. It’s about time that we got a cover! I’m going to have to re-read the first three though because it’s been about 2 years since I last read them!

    Here’s my WoW!

  5. I’ve only read the first two in this series I have the third but I think I might wait until August and read them all before the fourth comes out.
    Sally.

    • I would wait if I were you too, that way you have it fresh in your mind. I am going to have to re-read the third one now since it has been so long since its release. Hope you do get to it and enjoy it 🙂

  6. I thought maybe the author forgot to write it…it has been sooo long. I hope that when you get it, it will be everything you hope it to be. Wanna see what I am Waiting on Wednesday for? Check it out.
