Waiting on Wednesday – Outpost

Waiting on Wednesday time!  First things first, thank you to Breaking the Spine for hosting this event every week.  This week the book I am psyched about is Outpost by Ann Aguirre.  I loved the first book, Enclave (review here) and cannot wait to dive back into this world with the second installment.  Here is the summary:

Deuce’s whole world has changed. Down below, she was considered an adult. Now, topside in a town called Salvation, she’s a brat in need of training in the eyes of the townsfolk. She doesn’t fit in with the other girls: Deuce only knows how to fight.

To make matters worse, her Hunter partner, Fade, keeps Deuce at a distance. Her feelings for Fade haven’t changed, but he seems not to want her around anymore. Confused and lonely, she starts looking for a way out.

Deuce signs up to serve in the summer patrols—those who make sure the planters can work the fields without danger. It should be routine, but things have been changing on the surface, just as they did below ground. The Freaks have grown smarter. They’re watching. Waiting. Planning. The monsters don’t intend to let Salvation survive, and it may take a girl like Deuce to turn back the tide.

Sounds really exciting right?  I know I am stoked for it to come out!  I don’t have too long to wait since it is due to release September 4th 2012.  Until then I will be looking forward to getting my hands on it.  So what are you looking forward to this week?

Waiting on Wednesday – Chosen Ones by Tiffany Truitt

Before I talk about the book I am waiting on today, I need to thank Jill from Breaking the Spine for hosting this event every week. This week I am waiting on Chosen Ones by Tiffany Truitt. I was really excited to be a part of the cover reveal for Chosen Ones and I am very eager to get my hands on the book as well. Here is a summary to fill you in on what the book is about.

What if you were mankind’s last chance at survival?

Sixteen-year-old Tess lives in a compound in what was once the Western United States, now decimated after a devastating fourth World War. But long before that, life as we knew it had been irrevocably changed, as women mysteriously lost the ability to bring forth life. Faced with the extinction of the human race, the government began the Council of Creators, meant to search out alternative methods of creating life. The resulting artificial human beings, or Chosen Ones, were extraordinarily beautiful, unbelievably strong, and unabashedly deadly.

Life is bleak, but uncomplicated for Tess as she follows the rigid rules of her dystopian society, until the day she begins work at Templeton, the training facility for newly created Chosen Ones. There, she meets James, a Chosen One whose odd love of music and reading rivals only her own. The attraction between the two is immediate in its intensity—and overwhelming in its danger.

But there is more to the goings-on at Templeton than Tess ever knew, and as the veil is lifted from her eyes, she uncovers a dark underground movement bent not on taking down the Chosen Ones, but the Council itself. Will Tess be able to stand up to those who would oppress her, even if it means giving up the only happiness in her life?

So what do you think? The book trailer has also been released and you can check that out below.

One of my favorite songs is playing the the background, so that is an added bonus! I am very excited about this book, it is due out in April so make sure to be on the look out for it. How about you? What are you looking forward to this week?

Waiting on Wednesday – The Immortal Rules

Before I start talking about the book I am anxiously awaiting this week I need to thank Jill from Breaking the Spine for hosting this event every week. This week I am look forward to The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa. I am HUGE Julie Kagawa fan! Her Iron Fey series was awesome, the latest addition released last October, The Iron Knight, (review here) and I have been dying to see what she was going to bring us next. Here is a summary from Goodreads for The Immortal Rules to give you a little more info about this book.

You will kill. The only question is when.

In the dark days since the insidious Red Lung virus decimated the human population, vampires have risen to rule the crumbling cities and suburbs. Uncontested Princes hold sway over diminished ranks of humans: their “pets.” In exchange for their labor, loyalty and of course, their blood, these pets are registered, given food and shelter, permitted to survive.

Unregistered humans cling to fringes, scavenging for survival. Allison Sekemoto and her fellow Unregistereds are hunted, not only by vampires, but by rabids, the unholy result of Red Lung-infected vampires feeding on unwary humans. One night, Allie is attacked by a pack of rabids, saved by an unlikely hero…and turned vampire.

Uncomfortable in her undead skin, Allie falls in with a ragtag crew of humans seeking a cure, or cures: for Rabidism and for Vampirism. She’s passing for human…for now. But the hunger is growing and will not be denied. Not for friendship—not even for love.

So what do you think? Sound good to you? Well, Julie is also having a contest right now to win a signed ARC of this book on her blog! Eek! So be sure to check that out here as well. I am counting down the days until this book releases in April! How about you? Are you looking forward to this book too or is there something else you are waiting on? Let me know in the comments!
